One of our core values at 3G's Automotive is to support and honor our active and retired military personnel. My father was a bombadier in WWII. Brian served in the Navy from 1980-1990 in aviation electronics. And our oldest son Jacob is serving with the Navy as an F18 jet engine mechanic, currently deployed on the USS Lincoln. We are proud of our family's military service, and we have the utmost respect for all who serve in each branch of our nation's Armed Forces.
An incident that cut us to the core was the attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi which resulted in the deaths of US Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens; USFS officer Sean Smith; and CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty. In 2017, a few days after watching the movie "13 hours" which depicts the events of that horrific night, we went to a wrestling tournament in Oregon City. Unbeknownst to us, it was the Tryone S. Woods wrestling tournament and in the course of that day we had the privilege of meeting Tyrone's mom Cheryl Croft Bennett, and former coach Doug Samarron. They shared with us the vision and hope of the Tyrone S. Woods Wrestling Foundation
The Tyrone Woods Wrestling Foundation is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization seeking to
- Provide financial and charitable assistance to youth wrestlers and wrestling programs.
- Annual recognition of the most outstanding Oregon high school wrestler by awarding the Tyrone S. Woods Memorial Trophy and a $1,000 scholarship based on academic, community service, and wrestling achievements.
- Promote scholarship, character building, and good citizenship through the sport of wrestling.
Brian and all 3 of our sons wrestled while in school, so we know first hand the character that can be built through the discipline of wrestling. This, combined with our heart for what happened in Benghazi, led us to become involved with the Foundation. 3G's Automotive is proud to have the honor once again of sponsoring a hole at the annual golf tournament. We love what the foundation stands for and strives to achieve and believe this is a worthy cause that deserves our time and financial support.
This year's tournament will be June 22, 2019. If you are interested in golfing sign ups are happening now! We would love to see others in our community come on board to partner with TSWWF to honor the memory of Tryone and to help kids in our local area by providing the financial resources they need to be involved in the great sport of wrestling.
Cheryl, we stand with you and everyone at TSWWF so that no one will forget.
